In the weeks leading up to celebrating our 20 years in business, we’re selecting 8 charities / organisations within the Ilkeston and Derbyshire area to receive a cash donation. Each of these wonderful groups offer various services, resources, support and more to the local community and we’re excited to share them with you all.
In addition to our donation, across the next few weeks we’ll be spotlighting each individually so you can learn more about these fantastic organisations, the services they provide, how they plan on using their donation, and how you can also help to support.
Football 4 Charities Pups
Football 4 Charities Pups was founded in 2018 by Danny Proctor and Susan Severn.
Their aim is to provide free fun football for children with learning difficulties, disabilities and anxiety issues who struggle to be part of a ‘mainstream’ competitive team.
The team provides recreational football every sunday morning throughout the year, providing the children with consistency and a weekend activity to look forward to. There is no fee for the children and families to attend, simply show up, have fun and play some football in a non-pressured, friendly environment.
Early in 2024, the team went into partnership with Stanton Ilkeston to become their disability team. In August, they moved to Kirk Hallam Community Academy while work was being carried out at Rutland Sports Park.
“We now have 22 children on our books and always welcome more. Along with our growth we will be putting two young lads through their coaching badge, Harvey (16) and Sam (19). Sam is a former Pup and will receive additional support from (Vince Wilde Derbyshire FA Disability Ambassador). A third coach will also be trained in March when he turns 16, another current Pup player”.
