In the weeks leading up to celebrating our 20 years in business, we’re selecting 8 charities / organisations within the Ilkeston and Derbyshire area to receive a cash donation. Each of these wonderful groups offer various services, resources, support and more to the local community and we’re excited to share them with you all.
In addition to our donation, across the next few weeks we’ll be spotlighting each individually so you can learn more about these fantastic organisations, the services they provide, how they plan on using their donation, and how you can also help to support.
Funky Monkeys Parent and Toddler Group
Funky Monkeys Parent and Toddler Group is a mother and baby group, run at The Little Acorn in Ilkeston.
The group hosts a safe space for parents to bring their little ones to play, explore and socialise. Besides being a fun, supportive environment, it’s also a great opportunity for the mums to get to know each other and make new friends.
Throughout the weekly sessions, there are lots of different activities available at the parent and toddler group for pre-school ages, including teddy bears picnics, arts and crafts, ball and sand pits, interactive toys and more.
There are also fun weekly themes that activities are centred around such as seaside, dinosaurs and coming up soon…Halloween!
With safety being one of the core values of the play group, all staff and volunteers are DBS checked.
With our donation, the group plans to update some of the toys on offer for the attendees and set up a sensory corner, which will allow them to offer more inclusivity for new members across various needs and abilities – as well as lots of sensory-stimulating activities!
When are the group sessions held?
The sessions are held every Friday, 10am – 2pm.

Who can attend the sessions?
The group is aimed towards Mother’s with babies and/or toddlers up to pre-school age.
How much do the sessions cost?
The cost to attend each session is £2 per child. This also includes tea, coffee and snacks.
